Wrestlers winless so far at Gamesby Chris Kaftan on September 8, 2009 American grappler Kyle Hoffer went winless in his only day of competition in 66-kilogram, Greco-Roman wrestling at the Chinese Cultural University on Tuesday, losing to Vladimir Zaytsev of Russia, 14-2, in his first match. Hoffer then wrestled again later in the day, losing a closer match to Bulgarian Ivan Angelov, 5-2. A day earlier, Hoffer's teammate Nathaniel Garrels lost his lone match of the day, 0-9, against another Bulgarian, Plamen Donchev. Garrels wrested in the 60kg weight class. The U.S. grapplers will face off for the freestyle competition Thursday and Friday, when newcomers Mark Cross and James Hanson will see their first taste of international competition. |
